Offerors must submit a quote on company letterhead detailing item description, unit price, and total price, along with descriptive literature and brochures regarding service and support. A detailed specifications list must be provided to Matt Akins (matthew.akins@usda.gov) prior to approval. Delivery must occur to UW Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, 208356 Drake Ave, Stratford, WI 54484, during normal business hours (7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday), with at least one week advance notification to Matt Akins (715-391-3246) and farm staff Ashley Blackburn (715-650-7451 or aablackburn@wisc.edu). Contractor key personnel should have prior experience designing, manufacturing, or selling agricultural equipment. No government-furnished items, data rights, or Section 508 compliance requirements apply.

Specifications

Project: Forage Box/Wagon

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: The USDA-ARS Environmentally Integrated Dairy Management Research Unit in Marshfield, WI has a requirement for a forage box/wagon for transporting forage from the field to storage.

2.0 Background: The new forage box/wagon will be used for harvesting of chopped forage in the field and transport to the feed storage pad and unloading into silage bags or onto the storage pad in piles. The box must have a removable roof with an extra 12 inch sides to allow for a capacity of 1300-1350 cubic feet, and have front and rear unloading capability. The front and rear unloading options must be switched hydraulically without mechanical conversions needed. The forage box must be factory mounted on a tandem axle wagon designed to be pulled by a tractor. The forage must be moved within the box by apron chains that are driven by a bevel gearcase apron drive in the front and rear of the forage box. The forage box must have a solid poly floor and stainless steel runners for preventing wear. The apron, cross conveyer, and feedout augers must have adjustable speeds to allow users to change the unloading speeds dependent on forage type/conditions.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

A list of forage box/wagon specifications must be provided to Matt Akins (matthew.akins@usda.gov) with the submitted quote for review prior to approval.

The forage box/wagon must meet the following requirements:

1) Forage box has fully welded frame assembly with vertical side uprights welded to channel crossmembers (not bolted)

2) Forage box with 12 inch extended sides to allow for 1300-1350 cubic feet capacity

3) Forage box mounted to tandem axle wagon

4) Wagon has 16.1x14 wheels with 16.5Lx16.1 tires mounted

5) Removable roof assembly

6) Apron chains driven by bevel gearcase apron drive in the front and rear. No worm drive gearboxes or roller chain reduction on apron drive

7) 2" minimum apron driveshaft diameter front and rear

8) Spring loaded, torsion style main apron chain tensioner- centered under box

9) 1 piece solid poly floor with stainless steel runners between apron chains and chains of forage box

10) Front gearcase driven by PTO; and rear gearcase driven by hydraulics

11) Hydraulic front/rear unload disconnect- no mechanical conversion needed for front/rear conversion

12) 3 front unload metering augers

13) Spring loaded roller chain tensioning on all roller chains

14) Rear gate delay

15) Slow moving vehicle (SMV) sign mounted on rear of forage box

16) LED lights on forage wagon

17) Manufacturer full warranty included

18) Quote must include setup, delivery fee, surcharges, and all other costs.

19) In order to be considered for award, offerors shall provide 1) quote on company letterhead detailing the item description, unit price and total price; and 2) descriptive literature, brochures, information on service and support.

4.0 Government Furnished: none

5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:

The forage box/wagon is to be delivered to the UW Marshfield Agricultural Research Station, 208356 Drake Ave, Stratford, WI 54484.

Delivery must be made during normal business hours of 7am and 4pm Monday through Friday unless scheduled in advance with farm staff.

Contractors must notify Matt Akins (715-391-3246) and the farm staff (Ashley Blackburn; 715-650-7451 or aablackburn@wisc.edu) at least 1 week before anticipated delivery to coordinate work schedules.

6.0 Travel:

All delivery costs for the new forage box/wagon must be included in the package bid.

7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel:

Key personnel for the contractor include the technical representative to determine the correct forage box/wagon for the package, and the staff in charge of delivery/setup. The contractor should have prior experience with either designing/manufacturing or sales of agricultural equipment.

8.0 Security Requirements:

Coordination with Matt Akins and Ashley Blackburn (UW MARS assistant superintendent) prior to delivery.

9.0 Data Rights: None
