About this file

This is a Requirements/Specification Document from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for an E-Field Probe, issued by the Communications Technology Laboratory's Radio Frequency Technology Division, Electromagnetic Fields Group. The document details procurement requirements for two primary items: (1) an E-field Probe and (2) an E Field Probe Control Module. The E-field Probe specifications include a frequency range of 20 MHz – 60 GHz, laser-powered operation with maximum 0.5 W laser power, field strength measurement range of 2-1000 V/m, and three independent dipoles with a total probe and handle length ≤ 30 cm. The Control Module requires optical ST/FC connection, desktop form factor, USB/RS232 communication interfaces, and operates on 12 VDC. Delivery is specified for NIST-Boulder at 325 Broadway, with a 14-week delivery timeline after receipt of order. The equipment comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty covering labor and parts, and acceptance is not expected to exceed 7 business days.
