SPECIFICATIONS

1.0 Specifications Description:

- The system must be robust for long-term deployment in agricultural systems subject to adverse weather conditions.

- The system must be able to collect hourly measurements from 8 chambers.

- The system must include adequate power capacity to enable day and night operation.

- The system must include a CO2/H20 gas analyzer, a multiplexer, 8 soil chambers, 8 soil collars, and 8 sets of cables.

- The system must include enclosures and conduit for protection from ambient conditions and animals.

- The system must have the ability to store data and communicate to laptops.

- The system must include sensors to characterize the environmental conditions at each chamber (soil moisture/temperature probes; quantum sensors)

- The system must include an additional survey package for capturing spatial variability in Rs

(gas analyzer, survey chamber, cable assembly, moisture and temperature probe, battery, 10 cm soil collars).

- Must include a cell modem for communication.

This automated system consists of soil chambers, a multiplexer, a gas analyzer, and a power package to enable day and night operation. The system also includes ancillary sensors to characterize the environment near soil collars (soil moisture, soil temperature, and ambient light).
