Specifications Document BRAND NAME OR EQUAL Getinge Autoclave for sterilization needs

Background and objectives: The USDA ARS National Cold-Water Marine Aquaculture Center’s Shellfish Genetics Lab (Kingston, RI) conducts genetic/genomic/cell and molecular biology research with the end goal of improved germplasm for the eastern oyster. This work requires standard equipment for sterilizing glassware, tubing, dissecting tools, culture media, etc. We need to procure an autoclave to meet our sterilization needs.

Rational for requirement: Our molecular biology lab is located on the University of Rhode Island Kingston campus in the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences (CBLS). As such, we have access to certain pieces of university equipment to complete our work. Recent failure of two autoclaves in CBLS necessitate the purchase of a new autoclave as soon as possible.
