STATEMENT OF WORK
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Eastern Ecological Science Center (EESC), located at 11649 Leetown Rd. Kearneysville, WV 25430 has a stream lab building on the property that is used for research of different species of fish. Located in the building is a walk-in cooler used to store the fish food needed for the fish being held in the tanks. The current walk-in cooler has been in place for many years and was previously used to hold food for large numbers of trout raised in an outside raceway.
Due to the age and inefficiency, the current walk-in needs to be replaced.
2.0 BACKGROUND
Research conducted at the EESC includes study of infectious and noninfectious diseases of fishes and other aquatic organisms. The facility also conducts research on invasive fish species with the intent of better understanding the adaptations these fish are applying in these new, nonnative habitats and developing ways to stop their spread and potentially eradicate them.
3.0 SCOPE
Contractor shall remove and dispose of existing 16’L x 11’W x 8’H walk-in cooler chiller, condensing unit and evaporator and replace with new units that meet or exceed specifications of the original installed units (Figs 1-3). The total ceiling height is approximately 9 ft which leaves some area above cooler that will need to be boxed in and finished (Fig 1). The condensing unit is to be placed on the asphalt outside of the room where the walk-in is located. Lines are to be run above the ceiling and through the outside wall to the unit. All lines shall be insulated with outside lines also being wrapped.
Cooler shall consist of: Galvanized steel walls and ceiling with R-25 factor or greater 42”x 84” door with observation window, heat strip(120v), thermometer, panic hardware, and manual open.
