About this file
This document outlines the scope of work for two forest reduction treatment projects on Carolina Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge. The first project involves precommercial thinning of a longleaf pine plantation to remove all other woody vegetation while protecting longleaf pines. Removal will be done by mechanically cutting stems up to six inches from the ground. The second project performs pine release on another longleaf pine stand through basal bark and hack-and-squirt applications of triclopyr and aminopyralid herbicides to control scrub oaks. Both projects require the selected contractor to supply all materials, labor, equipment, supervision, and transportation to complete the work by specified deadlines. The contractor must also follow all safety, environmental and forestry best practice requirements detailed in the scope of work.
