About this file
This is a memorandum of salient characteristics for a breathing air compressor procurement from the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron at Dover Air Force Base.
The Air Force Fire Department requires an all-in-one breathing air compressor system compliant with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards 1901 and 1989 (current edition). The unit must have 6,000 psi storage capacity, 15-25 horsepower, and accommodate 3 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) fill stations capable of holding cylinders up to 31 inches in overall length. Additional specifications include a 100-foot high-pressure cabinet-enclosed hose reel, sound attenuating enclosure with slam-action latches, automatic condensate drain system with non-corrosive reservoir and integrated float sensor with automatic "Full" indication and compressor shutdown capability, and alarms for safety shutoff and emergency stop button. The memorandum indicates the Fire Department currently operates a Bauer brand compressor connected to service contract FA449725C0008, which provides quarterly maintenance and air purity checks. Technical inquiries should be directed to TSgt Grant Hadrava at Grant.hadrava@us.af.mil or 302-677-4414.
