About this file
This document is a salient characteristics specification for a Manual Blast Cabinet System required for Facility 721. The contractor must provide a complete blast cabinet system with specific dimensions of 26" deep by 36" wide by 28" high, constructed from #14 gauge steel with a 1,000 lb. capacity perforated steel floor. The blast enclosure includes a dual-panel swing door with OSHA interlock on the right side, a 14" x 22" safety-glass viewing window with rounded corners, two 16W LED flood lamps providing 1,280 lumens each, and ergonomic 8" glove rings with arm rest and positive seal. The system must include a manual blow-off gun that is OSHA-compliant and an 18" wide pneumatic foot treadle.
The suction blast media delivery system comprises a 1 cubic foot media storage hopper, front-mounted ½" modular piping with pressure regulator and gauge, a general-purpose filter with sight glass and manual drain, an MH-2 long-handle blast gun with 5/16" ceramic nozzle, and an SAR-2 media flow regulator. The media recovery and dust collection system includes a 600 cfm externally tunable cyclonic reclaimer, 8' media recovery hose (4" diameter) and 11' dust hose (6" diameter), a 600 cfm cartridge dust collector (CDC-6), and a 1½ hp blower on the clean air side with minihelic gauge, 16-gallon dust drum, and pushbutton reverse-pulse filter cleaning. All electrical work must be completed by a licensed electrician and comply with the 2023 edition NFPA 70 National Electric Code. The system requires 13 amps at 230 volts, 60 Hz, single phase for the blower motor, and 37 scfm of clean, dry air at 80 psi with a 40°F dew point.
