About this file

This document is a salient characteristics specification dated February 2024 for a Phantom T-1340 Camera System, specifically detailing requirements for a 16" telescope and relay optic system.

The specifications call for a 16" aperture 200" focal length ruggedized RC scope that must weigh no more than 150 lbs when fully built, include appropriate mounting plates for P and K mount arms, and feature enhanced protected aluminum coating for both visible and IR spectrum performance. The telescope must be a Ritchey-Chretien design with secondary mirror motion control for thermal adjustment and utilize carbon fiber main tube with aluminum supports. The relay optic component must be specifically designed to interface between a FLIR 8200 camera and the telescope, with matching cold stops and appropriate sizing for optimal image patch transmission to the FLIR camera sensor. The system is intended to operate in mid-wave IR (3-5 um) frequency range.

Telescope 16” and Relay Optic

These characteristics will satisfy the requirement of needs for the requested equipment.

1) 16” aperture 200” focal length ruggedized RC scope.

a. be </= 150lbs fully built to spec

b. have appropriate mounting plate for direct mounting to P and K mount arms.

c. have enhanced protected aluminum coating on the mirrored surfaces making it capable of performing well in both visible and IR spectrum

d. to be a ritchey chretien telescope design

e. Secondary mirror motion control for thermal adjustment

f. Carbon fiber main tube w/ Aluminum supports or equivalent strength material with an emphasis on weight reduction and resiliency to vibration.

2) Relay optic

a. Relay optic specifically designed to go between a FLIR 8200 camera and line 1) telescope.

b. Relay should match cold stops and appropriately size optimal image patch of telescope to sensor of FLIR camera.

c. Intended frequency mid-wave IR (3-5 um).
