About this file
This document outlines the salient characteristics for load banks to be acquired for Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington. The contractor shall provide four L100D load banks with 400hz aircraft connectors, 28V transformers, digital meters to measure volts/amps/frequency/kw/power factors, power indicator lights, thermal protections, phase rotation indicators, E and F circuit indicators, carrying cases with wheels and handles, nominal voltage of 200v, discrete load levels, and portable suitcase-style dimensions of approximately 22in L x 8in W x 16.5in H weighing around 45lbs. The load banks must have a minimum watt absorption range of 10kW to 109kW. Delivery is required within 180 days after receipt of order. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number FA462024QA904 for the load banks requirement, issued by the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

Salient Characteristics
For
Load Banks
Fairchild AFB, WA
1. BACKGROUND: The project entails the acquisition of four essential load banks to facilitate the testing of ground power units (GPUs) for KC-135 aircraft maintenance. Load banks, in this context, serve as devices that mimic the dynamic electrical load variations encountered during aircraft maintenance, verifying that GPUs can handle diverse loads reliably. Regulatory compliance is paramount, ensuring that GPUs adhere to airworthiness standards for military aircraft maintenance. This initiative is pivotal for safety, preventing unexpected failures and complying with aviation regulations. It aligns with broader aircraft maintenance systems, integrating seamlessly with ground support equipment (GSE). The load banks will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall safety and reliability of maintenance operations. Key features include the ability to simulate load variations and real-time monitoring capabilities. The integration of load banks into routine maintenance checklists ensures systematic testing, while data logging provides valuable performance metrics for analysis and predictive maintenance planning.
2. OBJECTIVES: The primary objective is to ensure the safe and efficient upkeep ofKC-135s by subjecting GPUs to simulated electrical loads during testing.
3. REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall provide four (4) Ll00D load banks with the following salient characteristics:
a) 400hz Aircraft connector
b) 28V Transformer
c) Digital Meter to measure volts/amps/frequency/kw/power factors
d) Power indicator lights
e) Thermal protections
f) Phase rotation indicator
g) E and F circuit indicators
h) Carrying case with wheels and handle
i) Nominal Voltage is 200v
j) Levels of the load are discrete
