Salient Characteristics
Contractor must provide materials and install a new force attenuating floor at the base of the Buckner Fitness Center Climbing Wall in line with industry standard. Additionally, the contractor must provide rectangular padded benches to line key areas of the flooring to serve as a place for climbers to sit and double up as a barrier for weightlifters to the climber fall zones. Flooring will be for a climbing wall that has 4 top rope anchors and a non-top out bouldering area reaching a maximum height of 15 feet.
Bouldering is allowed on all parts of the climbing wall. The bouldering area is in the middle of the wall splitting the top roper anchors with 2 on each side of it. The Buckner climbing wall is juxtaposed in the middle of a fully functioning weight room. The padded benches will need to be fastened somehow (hook and loop, stitching, etc.) to the flooring in the strategic places outlined at installation. Dimensions of the area are outlined below.
a. Cover an area of 501 square feet of flooring.
b. Flooring shall be a minimum thickness of 14 inches.
c. Industry standard foam force attenuated strategy like PU Foam.
d. Cordura cover to the foam across entire area to increase the longevity of the flooring and improve the usage of the climbing wall.
e. Foam Benches: Quantity of (4) at 6 feet long by 19 inches tall by 12 inches wide.
f. Flooring shall be customized to fit the jagged edge of the climbing wall and inset into the existing 8 inch deep well that the current climbing wall sits in. The 8 inch deep well is the entire 501 square feet.
501 square feet is a very close approximation to the total square footage considering the jagged edge of the climbing wall side.
