About this file

This document is an attachment describing the salient characteristics for a Request for a Spectrum Analyzer and Gain Horn Antenna Suites Combination kit. The key requirements include a handheld, portable, durable, and weather-resistant spectrum analyzer with a wide frequency range of 9 kHz to 50 GHz, supporting signal characterization and monitoring, GPS, preamplifier, and various display and analysis functions. It also requires multiple gain horn antennas covering the L-band, S-band, C-band, X-band, Ku-band, Ka-band, and Q-band, with nominal 15 dB gain and up to 20 dB preferred, along with associated antenna cables. The equipment must fit within a specific transport case size and be commercially transportable. This requirement is part of the federal contract opportunity "Site Survey Kit Spectrum Analyzer and Antennas" solicited by the Department of the Air Force Space Command.

Requesting two Spectrum Analyzer and Gain Horn Antenna Suites Combination kits composed of:

-Handheld Spectrum Analyzer -Gain Horn Antenna Suites (poss 7 different antennas, covers different spectrum bands) -Min of two antenna cables per spectrum analyzer (connection configurations between spectrum analyzer and the antenna input determines the overall number of cables) for each antenna size.

Overview:

The handheld spectrum analyzer and directional antenna suite combination shall support electromagnetic spectrum (EMS) survey in the L-band (1-2 GHz), S-band (2-4 GHz), C-band (4-8 GHz), X-band (8-12 GHz), Ku-band (12-18 GHz), Ka-band (26.5-40 GHz), and Q-band (33-50 GHz). The equipment must be portable, handheld, battery operated, durable, weather resistant, and commercially transportable. The equipment needs to support ease of operation requirements with the economy of movement during adverse weather conditions. The equipment will be packed inside transport cases (approx. Internal Dimensions: 30.01" Length x 25.02" Width x 15" Depth) to accommodate commercial travel and excessive luggage restrictions.

Handheld Spectrum Analyzer (microwave and radio frequency) Requirements:

-Operates in English -portable, handheld, durable, weather resistant -Rechargeable battery -Support Signal Characterization and Monitoring -Wide Spectrum range ~ 9 kHz (approx. start point, give or take a few hertz) through 50 GHz -Antenna Input & Output capability

-GPS

-Preamplifier -Visual EMS representation with Spectrograph (primary trace) and Spectrogram (waterfall plot) -Options for data storage and analysis -User-friendly display with intuitive controls -Possess basic functions with:

· Center Frequency – Allows tuning to specific center frequency (think RF address)

· Span – Selects frequencies displayed on X-axis (think zoom)

· Frequency Start/Stop – Selects range of frequencies to display (combines CF and span)

· Reference Level – Sets the amplitude reference (top line of display)

· Scales per Division – Like Span, but for the Y-axis (based on Ref Level) -Possess advanced functions with:

· Video Bandwidth – Used to “clean up” a signal making it easier to view

· Sweep – Controls refresh speed of a live trace

· Markers – Helps user characterize/measure RF signals

· Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) – Determines how close frequency components in the signal spectrum can be and still be displayed as distinct components on the screen (Decreased RBW = Decreased Noise) -High Frequency Accuracy -Small Resolution Bandwidth -High Frequency Resolution -Demodulation Capability -Size dimensions not to exceed 15” x 18” (approx.)

Antenna Cable Requirements:

-3 feet to 5 feet length -One end connector configured to fit the selected spectrum analyzer input port.

-Distant end connector configured to fit the selected gain horn antenna input.

Gain Horn Antenna Requirements:

-Supports EMS survey in the:

· L-band (1-2 GHz) with

· S-band (2-4 GHz)

· C-band (4-8 GHz)

· X-band (8-12 GHz)

· Ku-band (12-18 GHz)

· Ka-band (26.5-40 GHz)

· Q-band (33-50 GHz) -Nominal 15 dB gain, 20 dB gain preferred -Includes antenna cable input connection (poss N-type or 2.92mm)
