About this file
This document is a Sources Sought Announcement for Transportable Patient Biocontainment, Isolation, and Quarantine (BIQ) Systems. The U.S. Government, through the Joint Project Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Protection (JPM CBRN Protection), is seeking information on potential sources to provide transportable BIQ systems or components that can be used aboard ships, aircraft, wheeled vehicles, and in field deployable systems to contain infectious patients and prevent the spread of biological threats.
The announcement describes the technical requirements for the BIQ systems, which must be transportable, modular, and possibly scalable to accommodate patient capacities ranging from one to forty. Key features include HEPA filtration, negative pressure, self-contained patient facilities, communication equipment, and biohazard waste management. The government is also interested in standalone components such as entry/exit vestibules, filtration systems, and decontamination equipment. Three new BIQ programs have been initiated - Shipboard Isolation System (SIS), Portable Patient Transport System (PPTS), and Bio-Containment Isolation System (BCIS) - and the government is seeking interoperable solutions across these platforms. An Innovation Day event is scheduled for October 9, 2024 to provide interested parties the opportunity to learn more and discuss potential technologies. Responses to this Sources Sought Announcement are due by November 8, 2024.
