About this file

This is a Purchase Description document for a federal contract opportunity issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Eye Institute (NEI), Ocular and Stem Cell Translational Research (OSCTR) program. The agency requires acquisition of one high-resolution gel and blot imaging system to replace a non-functional Bio-Rad ChemiDoc instrument that cannot be repaired. The specified equipment is the Bio-Rad ChemiDocMP Imaging System (Model/Catalog Number 12003154) or an equivalent alternative system.

The required imaging system must feature a high-resolution CCD camera with 6.05 megapixels (2,750 H x 2,200 V pixels), quantum efficiency up to 75% at 525 nm, an f/0.95 fast lens with 16-bit data acquisition, Peltier cooling to -15°C, multiple illumination sources (UV, white, blue, green, red, and near-infrared), Smart Tray Technology for automatic parameter adjustment, integrated Image Lab Touch Software for automated imaging and analysis, compatibility with stain-free technology for total protein normalization, and factory calibration with integrated safety features. The system will support critical research workflows including western blotting, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid visualization. Delivery is required within 30 days after receipt of order. The quantity required is one unit.

Purchase Description

Statement of Need and Purpose

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Eye Institute (NEI), Ocular and Stem Cell Translational Research (OSCTR), requires a high-resolution imaging system to replace an unrepairable Bio-Rad ChemiDoc instrument. The new system will support critical research workflows by enabling accurate imaging and quantitative analysis of gels and blots for protein and nucleic acid studies.

Background Information and Objective

OSCTR owns a Bio-Rad ChemiDoc system which is non-functional and cannot be repaired. The system is essential for ongoing experiments involving western blotting, gel electrophoresis, and nucleic acid visualization. The objective is to acquire the latest ChemiDoc MP Imaging System (or equal) to maintain continuity in research and ensure compliance with OSCTR protocols.

Generic Name of Product

Gel and blot imaging system.
