B. FOREWORD, DESCRIPTION, AND PURPOSE
The Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Region, Albuquerque Area Office, and Brackish Groundwater National Desalination Research Facility has a need for emergency services to inspect and clean existing Well No. 4.
Description of work tasks is to perform a video inspection and clean the existing BGNDRF Well No. 4. This will include pulling the well pump, injecting cleaning chemical, flushing the well, and performing video inspections before and after the cleaning operations. Well 4 has an estimated diameter of 6-inches and the submersible pump depth is unknown. The well is screened from 100 to 185 ft (screens in 20 ft segments) below ground surface (bgs) and static water is around 70 ft bgs. The existing 25 hp pump originally flowed at 230 gallons per minute (gpm) but has recently declined to 130-150 gpm. The electrical supply is 480VAC/3phase/50 amps and a VFD is installed on the well pump. The water is moderately brackish with approximately 3,300 mg/L total dissolved solids.
The well has not been in regular use for some time now but is expected to be in service more once a treatment building is built. This well provides the most flow when operating correctly and needs to be put back into service as soon as possible.
Components of Work. – The following is a short list of the principal work tasks for repairing Well No. 4:
Coordinate Tag-Out/Lock-Out of pumps energizing systems with facility manager.
Remove existing jacketed pipe insulation and store for reuse after repairs are completed on the well.
Pull existing motor and pump assembly for inspection and cleaning. Use existing stainless steel pipe and take caution not to damage existing airline and sound tubing.
Disconnect pump electrical systems.
Install chemical for cleaning and allow to soak per manufacturer suggestions.
Flush well into BGNDRF evaporation ponds. Coordinate this work with BGNDRF staff.
Reset well pump assembly using existing airline and sound tubing by lowering into place with new or existing stainless steel pipe.
Coordinate Tag-Out/Lock-Out to energize electrical systems to test well pump assembly.
If pump is operating correctly move to insulation step. If pump assembly is not working correctly, diagnose/troubleshoot problem and repair systems until pump is working correctly.
Reinstall jacket pipe insulation if possible.
Clean-up area and leave project site.
Offeror shall comply with all state and county codes and permits. Offeror is responsible for all permits required to pull and service water well.
