About this file
This is a Statement of Need for a federal wire procurement project titled "Bravo S1 to T9 Wire Purchase" at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. The government requires the procurement and delivery of 3,000 linear feet of #1/0 15KV 133% EPR tape shielded 220mil medium voltage cable, cut into three sections of 1,000 feet each. The wire must be new and meet Type MV-105 cable specifications for use in aerial, direct burial, and underground duct installations.
The cable specifications require an annealed uncoated copper compact stranded conductor per ASTM B-496; an extruded semiconducting EPR strand screen; EPR insulation meeting electrical and physical requirements of ICEA S-93-639/NEMA WC74, S-97-682, AEIC CS8, CSA C68.10, and UL 1072; an extruded semiconducting EPR insulation screen; and a 5 mil bare copper tape shield helically applied with 12.5% nominal overlap. The cable must operate continuously at conductor temperatures not exceeding 105°C for normal operation, 140°C for emergency overload conditions, and 250°C for short circuit conditions, and is rated at 15,000 V with a 133% insulation level for ungrounded systems. The contractor shall furnish all materials and incidentals, provide manufacturer warranty, comply with SON requirements, and obtain prior approval from the government Project Manager and Procuring Contract Officer before making any alterations, additions, or deletions. Delivery is required to 55CES/CEOFE, 106 Peacekeeper Drive, Offutt AFB, NE 68113.
