About this file

This document outlines Minimum Specifications for a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) with detailed technical requirements. The specifications mandate a tabletop system with at least 2 ports, a top frequency range of 20 GHz using SP218 Probes, and a minimum 100 dB dynamic range. The VNA must operate at a maximum sweep speed of 130 microseconds per point and utilize Free Space Measurement Methods to characterize materials. Key features include non-contact measurement capabilities, allowing analysis a few inches from the sample without physical contact, and the ability to measure reflection and transmission of microwave signals across vertical and horizontal orientations. The system must be new, from the manufacturer's latest model, and capable of converting reflection and transmission data into material properties such as permittivity.

Minimum Specifications

The requirements for Vector Network Analyzer:

• Tabletop system.

• Must have no less than 2 ports.

• Top Frequency Range required for Tabletop with only SP218 Probes must be 20 GHz.

• Dynamic Range must be at least 100 dB dynamic Range.

• Speed must be 130 microseconds per point sweep speed maximum.

• Measurements system using Free Space Measurement Methods to characterize materials.

• Must allow measurements only a couple of inches away from the sample under test, while not touching or destroying sample.

• The system should be a new system and the last model of the company. (The used instrument is not good for communication reasons: the communication between the VNA and Part 2)

• Capable to measure the reflection and transmission of the microwave signal, respectively.

• There is no physical connection between the sample (material to be analyzed) and the antenna including emission and receive antenna).

• The system is tabletop system meaning the system can be placed on a table.

• The measurement can be carried out with the samples (material to be analyzed) and antenna in any direction from vertical to horizonal.

• The system has the capability to convert the reflection and transmission data to materials properties such as the permittivity.
