About this file
This document is a federal procurement request from the Department of the Air Force, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex (OC-ALC) at Tinker Air Force Base, for the purchase of compressed air drying equipment and consumables.
The 76 PMXG is requesting funds for two items: (1) a Van AIR or equal deliquescent dryer (D-42) tank (Part No. 80-0011), and (2) Dry-O-Lite desiccant bags or equivalent. The Van AIR D42 is a single-tower deliquescent compressed air dryer designed for stationary applications with a capacity of 1250 SCFM at 100 PSIG, with maximum working pressure up to 150 PSIG (some models rated to 250 PSI). Key features include automatic dew point control lowering dew point approximately 20°F below inlet air temperature, 4" NPT or flange inlet/outlet connections, less than 1% pressure drop, no moving parts or electrical components for safe operation in hazardous locations, and a 10-year vessel warranty. The unit measures approximately 93" height by 42.75" width and weighs approximately 1275 lbs. Desiccant bags contain hygroscopic deliquescent tablets (¾" diameter × 5/8" height) with a bulk density of approximately 72 lbs./cu. ft., achieving approximately 20°F dew point depression with an absorption capacity of approximately 4 pounds of water per pound of desiccant. The tablets are completely water-soluble, non-toxic, and non-hazardous, commonly supplied in 50 lb. bags.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE
OKLAHOMA CITY AIR LOGISTICS
COMPLEX (OC-ALC) TINKER AIR FORCE
BASE OKLAHOMA
The 76 PMXG is requesting the utilization of funds for the purchase of the following items:
1. Van AIR or equal Deliquescent Dryer (D-42) Tank.
2. Dry-O-Lite Desiccant Bags or Equal.
Salient Characteristics of Van Air D42 or Equal (Part No. 80-0011):
A single-tower deliquescent compressed air dryer designed for stationary applications. It should be known for simplicity, reliability, and suitability in harsh environments.
Key Specifications & Features
• Capacity: 1250 SCFM at 100 PSIG, up to 150 PSIG max working pressure; some listings note up to
250 PSI capability
• Dew Point Control: Deliquescent desiccant automatically lowers dew point by ~20 °F below inlet air temperature (e.g., 80 °F inlet → ~60 °F dew point; 50 °F inlet → ~32 °F dew point)
• Connections: 4" NPT or flange inlet/outlet; manual drain valve
• Pressure Drop: Less than 1% of operating pressure, making it ideal for low-pressure systems
• Construction: No moving parts or electrical components — safe for dirty, dusty, or hazardous locations, including explosive vapor areas
• Installation Flexibility: Can be mounted indoors or outdoors; portable for truck, trailer, or skid-packaged equipment.
• Warranty: 10-year vessel warranty.
• Applications: Industrial plant air, blast rooms, paint booths, rail yards, landfill/digester gas systems, ready-mix cement/asphalt plants, sawmills, and wood production.
• Dimensions & Weight: Height ~93", width ~42.75", weight ~1275 lbs.
• Operation: Wet air enters the bottom, flows upward through the desiccant bed, and dry air exits the top; condensate is drained manually
Salient Characteristics of Desiccant Bags
Desiccant bags contain deliquescent desiccant tablets made from hygroscopic materials that attract and hold moisture, making them ideal for use in single and sequential tower compressed air dryers and natural gas pipeline dryers
Key physical and operational characteristics:
• Form & Size: Hard, dense white/off-white tablets, typically ¾" diameter × 5/8" height
• Bulk Density: ~72 ± 3 lbs./cu. ft
• Break Pressure: 60–100 lbs. average
• pH of Solution: 6.5–7.5 when moisture is absorbed
• Critical Relative Humidity: 55% RH
• Dew Point Performance: Achieves ~20°F dew point depression for inlet temperatures up to 100°F
• Absorption Capacity: Each pound of Desiccant bag removes about 4 pounds of water
• Solubility: Completely water-soluble, non-toxic, and non-hazardous.
• Dissolution Mechanism: Tablets slowly deliquesce (dissolve) as they absorb moisture, forming a brine solution that drips off the surface until fully consumed.
• Storage: Keep in a dry, sealed container to prevent premature moisture uptake.
• Package Sizes: Commonly supplied in 50 lbs. (22.8 kg) bags.
