About this file

This document is an Attachment containing Figures and Additional Specifications for two adhesive types with detailed technical requirements. Adhesive A is designed to bond to Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC)-coated metals, painted metals, military weapons, and high surface energy plastics, with specifications including water/oil/fluid insolubility, operational temperature range of -40°F to 350°F, and a 5.0 mil nominal thickness. Adhesive B has similar bonding capabilities but is specifically formulated for low surface energy plastics like HDPE and polypropylene, with an expanded operational temperature range of -40°F to 450°F, and meets 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9485PC performance specifications. Both adhesives require a moisture-resistant liner, have a minimum one-year shelf life, and are intended for military and industrial applications involving diverse material surfaces.

Adhesive A: Shall bond to Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC)-coated metals; painted metals; common military weapons, including anodized aluminum and blued steel (i.e. steel subject to immersion in a hot aqueous manganese phosphate solution); and high surface energy (HSE) plastic applications (i.e. plastics with a surface energy greater than 40 mJ/m2). Shall be insoluble in water, oil, hydraulic fluid, mild acids and mild alkalis. Shall not operationally fail between 350℉ and -40℉. Nominal adhesive thickness without liner shall be 5.0 mil (0.127 mm).

The liner shall be moisture resistant. The shelf-life of the adhesive shall be one year or more.

Shall meet or exceed performance specifications 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9505.

Adhesive B: Shall bond to painted metals; common military weapons, including anodized aluminum and blued steel (i.e. steel subject to immersion in a hot aqueous manganese phosphate solution); and low surface energy (LSE) plastics (i.e. plastics with a surface energy less than 40 mJ/m2), such as High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene. Shall be insoluble in water, oil, hydraulic fluid, mild acids and mild alkalis. Shall not operationally fail between 450℉ and -40℉. Nominal adhesive thickness without liner shall be 5.0 mil (0.127 mm). The liner shall be moisture resistant. The shelf-life of the adhesive shall be one year or more. Shall meet or exceed performance specifications 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9485PC.
