Attachment 1 Statement Of Work
Santa Barbara District Office Septic System Replacement
1 - Scope of Contract The Los Padres National Forest is seeking a qualified and licensed contractor for the replacement of the septic tank and distribution lines for the Santa Barbara District Office located at 3505 Paradise Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93105. The existing septic system was recently inspected and determined that the septic tank interior baffle wall had deteriorated and can no longer promote the separation of solids from liquid. Therefore, failure in the baffle wall is causing solids to enter the drain lines and into the drain field – there are no reports of drain field failure. As a result, sewage is being pumped periodically from the septic tank, to address health and safety concerns, while allowing the continuous use of the district office.
Contract work will address the issue at Santa Barbara District Office by replacing the old septic tank with a new 1,500-gallon low profile septic tank. Work is also to include:
• Pumping of existing 1,000-gallon septic tank.
• Removal and disposal of existing septic tank and contents.*
• Removal and disposal of existing drain line from the district office over to the leach field tie-in.*
• Provide and install new 1,500-gallon plastic low profile septic tank.
• Provide and install two manhole extension collars with manhole lids. Manhole extension collars should be (24-36 inches) based on the depth that the septic tank is buried. Manhole covers shall extend about 4 inches above finished ground grade.
• Provide and install approximately 125 linear feet of distribution ABS piping. Replace distribution piping from the district office to the septic tank and from septic tank over to the tie-in for the drain field.
Distribution piping should be placed in approximately the same location as the existing distribution line that is to be removed.**
• Provide 6 inches of fill material for trench bedding for distribution line. (3’x125’x6”). Also provide 12 inches of bedding material for septic tank placement (approximate dimensions 58” x 157” x 12”).
• Saw cut asphalt and dispose of waste (approximately 3 feet wide by 30 feet in length).**
• Replace removed asphalt for parking lot (3’x30’x4”).**
At the close-out of the contract, the contractor shall provide the Government with a set of as-built drawings showing all components of the new septic system.
The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment to complete the contract as shown on the drawings and included in the specifications. The contractor is responsible for securing all permits, fees and requirements from state and local county offices.
