About this file
Attachment 1 is a detailed specification document for Delrin AF DE 588 plastic sheeting for the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The document specifies precise technical requirements for a Delrin sheet measuring 1.00" thick x 12.00" wide x 48.00" long, with detailed material properties including specific gravity (1.50-1.57), melting point (172-184 deg C), tensile strength (6100 PSI minimum), and other mechanical characteristics. The specification references NAVSEA drawing 803-4384678 Rev C and includes stringent testing methodologies for dimensional stability, material composition, and quality control.
The contract (SPMYM325P1129) is a small business set-aside solicitation processed as a lowest-price technically acceptable (LPTA) procurement. Key requirements include submission of mechanical property test reports, certificates of compliance, and adherence to mercury control standards. The solicitation is open until 11 April 2025 at 3 PM EST, with quotes to be submitted via email to Stephen.1.Smith@dla.mil. Vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM), provide detailed pricing information, and demonstrate exact compliance with the Delrin AF DE 588 specification, with the material being brand-name mandatory.

3. The test method to determine dimensional stability shall be performed as follows: The test specimens (finished pieces) tested shall be measured at 23 +/- 3 deg C (73 +/- 5F) and placed in a mineral oil* bath maintained at 160 +/- 3 deg C (320 +/- 5F) the specimens shall remain in the bath for six (6) hours at temperature and allowed to slow cool in the bath at a rate not to exceed 23 +/- 3 deg C (73 +/- 5F) per hour. When the bath reaches 23 +/- 3 deg C (73 +/- 5F), the test specimens shall be removed and measured. The percent change in each dimension, outside diameter, inside diameter and thickness shall not be greater than the value specified.
