Statement of Need (SON) Salient Characteristics
(Brand Name)
The Band of the Golden West at Travis AFB, CA has a brand name requirement for Meyer self-powered, wide range coverage,(line array) loudspeakers with rigging hardware and accessories in accordance with the salient characteristics and brand name items listed below:
For line items 1-12, the sound systems shall directly integrate with existing Meyer Sound equipment, which the Band of the Golden West currently maintains. In addition, several times a year the Band of the Golden West raises the speaker systems up in the air via crank up lifts or with chain motors rigged to the ceiling structure of the building. The sound systems shall be scalable so that more speakers may be added to a flown array and increase system output for larger audiences. In order to do that, each speaker manufacturer shall provide a rigging system that allows their speakers to rig to each other in accordance with OSHA standards so that optimum safety can be maintained. The rigging integration for the speakers shall be compatible with the captive GuideALink system and directly adaptable to Meyer Sound rigging options.
The following list of characteristics are specific to the aforementioned line items:
Line Item 1. The self-powered wide coverage loudspeaker shall be comprised of, W: 26.93 in (684 mm) x H: 11.11 in (282 mm) x D: 21.66 in (550 mm) black texture coated cabinet made of multi-ply birch with a Two 9-inch long-excursion cone drivers; 2 Ω nominal impedance for low frequencies One 3-inch

12 Galileo GALAXY 408 408 Processor Network Platform 1 diaphragm compression driver coupled to a constant-directivity horn through a patented REM® manifold; 4 Ω nominal impedance for high frequencies. These drivers shall be fed by a 3-channel, open-loop, class D amplifier producing up to 3900 W peak watts which is driven by an internal, phase-corrected, electronic crossover signal processor. The speaker shall have an operating frequency range of 55 Hz to 18 kHz, and a phase response of e 92 Hz – 18 kHz ±30 degrees. The speaker’s power input shall be a powerCON equipped “Intelligent AC” power supply capable of automatically selecting the proper voltage from 90-265 V AC, 50-60 Hz. The coverage pattern of the speaker shall be 110 degrees horizontal. The signal input shall be an industry standard XLR 3-pin female connector with a male loop output connector.
Line Item 2. Meyer Sound MG Leopard Grid Kit Flies up to 23 LEOPARD cabinets with a 5:1 safety factor and BGV C1 with some angle restrictions; includes attachment points to accommodate brackets and adapters for lasers and inclinometers. The grid offers multiple and single-center pickup points and supports mixed arrays of LEOPARD and 900-LFC cabinets flown or ground-stacked without any transition hardware.
Line Item 3. The self-powered low frequency loudspeaker shall be comprised of a black texture coated cabinet made of mulit-ply birch with a single 18- inch, dual coil, long-excursion cone driver. This driver shall be fed by a two channel class D amplifier which is capable of delivering a total peak output power of 3100 watts which is driven by an internal, phase-corrected, equalization and driver protection signal processor. The speaker shall have an operating frequency range of 30 Hz to 125 Hz, and a phase response of 32 Hz to 115 Hz +/- 4 dB. The speaker’s power input shall be a powerCON equipped “Intelligent AC” power supply capable of automatically selecting the proper voltage from 90-265 V AC, 50-60 Hz. The signal input shall be an industry standard XLR 3-pin female connector with a male loop output connector.
The speaker shall employ a remote monitoring system which can be connected to compatible software which allows the user to monitor the operating conditions of the speaker. Finally the speaker shall have integrated end frames which have captive GuideALinks which allow speakers to be connected together via quick release pins at 0, 1.25, 2.5, 3.75, and 5 degree angles, as well as connections to optional accessories such as rigging grids, caster frames and tilt kits which the Band of the Golden West already owns and employs.
Line Item 4. The caster frame kit securely attaches to the bottom of the self-powered low frequency loudspeaker via links and quick release pins, allowing safe transport of up to two low frequency speakers at one time. The caster frame shall be made of steel for durability, and have four high quality casters.
Line Item 5. The pullover cover shall be made of durable padded fabric to easily slide down over the top of a double stack of low frequency speakers while in storage or transport on an attached caster frame.
Line Item 6. The Pullover cover shall be make of durable padded fabric to easily slide down over the top of the 4 stacked Leopard speakers while in storage and or transport on an attached caster frame.
Line Item 7. The caster frame kit securely attaches to the bottom of the self-powered Leopard loudspeakers via links and quick release pins, allowing safe transport of up to four Leopard speakers at one time.
