Questions and Answers
Concerning the Building 299 Zone 6 power project:
Question 1) Could you please provide me with Government Spec’s for Transformers. (Rate of rise, copper/Alum. Windings Etc.)
ANSWER 1) PW can provide to the DOR the un-edited version of the UFGS specifications. The specifications are typically edited using the Specs Intact. It is up to the DOR to provide specifications.
Otherwise, please inform what the choices are to help us assist is this decision.

Question 2) After the project walkthrough if was discovered that Switch S72 is a (3) switch (1) fuse and could work for this project, provided the incoming feed has the capability to add another 200A @13,800V could you provide us with a one line diagram of S72?
ANSWER 2) S72 will need field verification for spare capability. The design includes a new switch be provided as well.
Question 3) Can we confirm that all new 15kv conduits will need to be concrete encased?
ANSWER 3) Yes, all 15kV shall be concrete encased. Following is a typical detail the DOR may incorporate into the design drawings.
Question 4) The new buss duct will range from 800A up to 1000A. Do we need to supply a 3wire or a
4wire Duct for these?
ANSWER 4) Building 299 has currently 3 wire buss duct.
Question 5) Can the conduit feeding the Buss Ducts be EMT? Where not subject to physical damage?
Or all conduit GRC?
ANSWER 5) According to the National Electrical Code EMT can be used in situations where it is not subject to damage, so EMT can be used.
Question 6) Remanufactured transformers have been used in the past with extended warranties, can these be utilized for this project?
ANSWER 6) No
Question 7) Rubberized coatings have been applied 18-24” from the bottom of transformers in certain locations to protect from salt, will this be a requirement for this project?
ANSWER 7) Yes
Question 8) Will “food grade oil” be required to be utilized in the transformers for this project?
ANSWER 8) Yes
Question 9) As a continuation from question #1, can you provide me with RIA specs on Buss Ducts, transformers and Switch Gear?
ANSWER 9) See above.
Question 10) Are Engineered stamped drawings required?
ANSWER 10) Yes, stamped sealed drawings and specifications are required by the Design Build contractor.
Question 11) Will the Zone 6 power project require a bid bond? Performance bond?
ANSWER 11) NO
