Proper orientation of the lower rod end (Item 24, Figure 3-1), part of assembly (21, Figure 3-1), is a critical characteristic. The lower rod end has a flat side and a tabbed side (anti-rotation lugs). The rod end shall be installed with the flat side facing the motor side of the actuator (tabs facing away from the motor). Refer to table 2-2 of DMWR for CSI CC.

See DMWR 55-1680-289 paragraph 3-7 and Table 3-1.2 for Inspection Requirements.

See DMWR 55-1680-289 paragraph 4-1 for Final Test Procedures.

See DMWR 55-1680-289 paragraph 5-7 for In-Process and Acceptance Inspection Requirements.

The overhaul facility is responsible for acquisition, maintenance, calibration, and disposition of all Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). TMDE shall be maintained and controlled in accordance with MIL-I-45607, AMCOM-R-702-2 or NCSL Z540.3. Calibration documents for all TMDE shall be traceable to the National Institute of Standards of Technology (NIST).

YCritical Safety Item?

There are no emerging airworthiness issues, no issues related to ECPs affecting the CSI status, and no concerns over reliability/durability for the CH-47F Electro-Mechanical Actuator at the time of this review.

Special Airworthiness Considerations

FCDD-AMA-M AED Sustainment has verified the CSI/NST status through the ARISE CIM on 14 Nov 2019 and the NHA is CSI and NST. The subcomponents are CSI and NST. Engineering testing Fatigue, Endurance, and Interchange are not required for overhaul. Updated NHA table in ARISE CIM. The manufacturer part number is 541604-9-1. DEM

Other Requirements / Comments

If the item is not a CSI and no adequate DMWR is available, approved sources, if any, are listed by CAGE as follows:

NSpecial Post-Contract Award Requirements?

The Prime or OEM is required to submit a Frozen Plan 30 days after contract award to Engineering Directorate (ED) and Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED). The Frozen Plan will be reviewed and require approval by ED and AED prior to government acceptance of contract deliverable assets.

Other Requirements / Comments (Part II)

The applicable DMWR contains detailed procedures regarding IUID requirements for this component. These procedures can be found in MEOs D2454, D2455, and D2456.

Other Requirements / Comments (Part III)

SRD-AMA-M-A/W-Sustainment has re-verified the CSI/NST status through the ARISE CIM on 3 Feb 2020 and the NHA is CSI and NST. The subcomponents are CSI and NST. Engineering testing Fatigue, Endurance, and Interchange are not required for overhaul. No changes made. DEM

Other Requirements / Comments (Part IV)
