About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement and installation of a QE&SA Spin Test Machine at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. The contractor shall provide and install a complete spin test machine system capable of performing burst and low cycle fatigue tests on articles with a maximum diameter of 5 inches, maximum axial height of 12 inches, maximum rotor weight of 6 pounds, and maximum speed of 60,000 rpm at ambient temperature.
The machine specifications include a 500mm spin chamber with an 18x18 inch vacuum chamber capable of 15 bar minimum pressure, a 200 kg lid with O-ring vacuum seal, and a 500mm x 500mm ID containment chamber with 75mm thick 100 KSI tensile alloy steel construction featuring four automatically operated safety lid locks and a 200kg electric motor-driven screw jack automated lid lifting mechanism. The drive system shall include a 20 kW air-cooled AC motor (maximum 10,000 rpm), a 6.5:1 ratio speed increaser, and a 5/16-inch diameter spindle with 450kg capacity. Additional requirements include a direct torque control motor drive (20 kW, 50/60 HZ input, 0-480 VAC output), a PLC-based speed control system with PC for data acquisition, auxiliary equipment including a vacuum pump (5-minute pump down to 1 Torr) and lubrication system, and a lid rotation system with hand-operated chain-driven loading station. The contractor must secure the machine to the floor, connect required power, provide initial startup support, deliver two days of on-site training for four personnel, and provide physical operation and maintenance manuals. The period of performance is six months from contract award, with delivery to Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806.
