General Information
1.0 Background and Purpose
The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price Requirements Contract for propane tank rental, propane refueling, and heater maintenance services for five (5) remote public use cabins located in the Juneau Ranger District. The service period of performance will be a 12-month base plus four 12-month options, unless clause 52.217-8 Option to Extend Service requires an additional six months of services.
The US Forest Service, Juneau Ranger District, maintains five public use cabins heated by propane: John Muir, Windfall Lake, Peterson Lake, Eagle Glacier and Dan Moller.
• Tank Rental: At this time, the US Forest Service does not own these tanks; therefore, this solicitation seeks rental for six (6) 500-gallon tanks for the duration of the contracts period of performance.
• Repair and Maintenance: Each of the five (5) cabins uses one standard wall mounted propane stove as the primary heat source. These stoves require annual repair and maintenance by qualified propane maintenance service providers.
• Refueling: In a typical calendar year, each cabin requires refueling of one 500-gallon propane tank except for two 500-gallon propane tanks at the Dan Moller cabin. All five cabins are inaccessible by road and require helicopters to lift and transport propane.
This contract will cover the refueling, rental and annual service required for maintaining Juneau Ranger District’s cabins. Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies.
