About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics attachment for federal contract opportunity FA462026QA263, detailing requirements for procuring a heavy-duty ultrasonic washer system for Fairchild Air Force Base's Fire Department in Washington State. The requirement is for one new ultrasonic washer unit designed to decontaminate firefighting equipment, specifically helmets, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs, and air bottles to mitigate carcinogenic exposure risks from toxic chemicals and hazardous materials encountered during fire emergencies.
The basis of design is the Omegasonics Fire Service Equipment Pro or equivalent. Physical specifications require a minimum 70-gallon tank capacity with internal dimensions of at least 33 inches length, 20 inches width, and 20 inches depth to fully submerge standard firefighter equipment. External dimensions must not exceed 72 inches length, 36 inches width, and 40 inches height. The unit must be constructed of stainless steel, fully insulated for fire and operational safety, and mounted on heavy-duty casters for portability. Electrical requirements specify single-phase operation at 208-220 VAC on a 20-Amp grounded circuit. The washer must generate ultrasonic frequencies optimized to remove dirt, grime, and toxic combustion by-products from both plastic and metal components and include a removable rack or basket for securing PPE items during cleaning. Deliverables include the unit delivered to Fairchild AFB, Washington, along with all technical specifications, operator manuals, and maintenance manuals.

Salient Characteristics For
Fire Department Ultrasonic Washer
Fairchild AFB, WA
1. BACKGROUND:
The Fire Department has a requirement for a heavy-duty ultrasonic washer system to safely and efficiently decontaminate firefighting equipment.
2. OBJECTIVES:
Firefighters and their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are routinely exposed to highly toxic chemicals and hazardous materials during fire emergencies. These chemical agents are persistent and adhere to PPE, posing long-term carcinogenic exposure risks to personnel after a fire is extinguished. The objective of procuring an ultrasonic washer is to thoroughly decontaminate helmets, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs, and air bottles, thereby mitigating health risks and ensuring the long-term safety of department personnel.
3. REQUIREMENTS:
The Contractor shall provide and deliver one (1) new ultrasonic washer meeting the minimum requirements outlined below. The basis of design is Brand Name or Equal to the Omegasonics Fire Service Equipment Pro. The minimum salient characteristics are:
A. Physical Specifications:
• Tank Capacity: Minimum of 70 gallons.
• Internal Dimensions: The internal tank dimensions must be sufficient to fully submerge standard firefighter SCBA packs, air bottles, and helmets. At a minimum, the internal working dimensions shall be no less than 33 inches in Length, 20 inches in Width, and 20 inches in Depth.
• External Dimensions: The total external footprint of the unit shall not exceed 72 inches in Length, 36 inches in Width, and 40 inches in Height to ensure it fits within designated facility spaces.
• Construction Material: Must be constructed of stainless steel to prevent corrosion and withstand heavy operational use.
• Insulation: The washer tank must be fully insulated to ensure fire and operational safety.
• Mobility: The unit must be mounted on heavy-duty casters to allow for portability within the facility.
B. Electrical Specifications:
• Power Supply: The washer must operate on a single-phase, 208-220 VAC, 20-Amp grounded electrical circuit.
C. Performance & Functional Specifications:
• Decontamination Capability: Must generate and deliver ultrasonic frequencies specifically optimized to safely remove dirt, grime, and toxic by-products of combustion from both plastics and metals (specifically targeting firefighter SCBA gear and face masks).
• Hardware Accessories: Must include a removable rack or basket designed to securely hold PPE items being submerged and cleaned.
4. DELIVERABLES:
• Delivery of the ultrasonic washer to Fairchild AFB, WA.
• The Contractor shall provide all associated technical specifications, operator manuals, and maintenance manuals upon delivery.
