Statement of Work

Project Name: Removing 3 earthen levees and land-leveling 6 impoundments

Location: Panther Swamp NWR – Humphreys County and Yazoo, MS

Asset Number/RPI: 10061071 and 10061072

Description of Work:

Work for this project involves hiring a contractor/vendor to remove three levees from old catfish ponds on Panther Swamp NWR and place removed material by land-leveling in adjoining 6 impoundments/ponds. Cut/fill sheets are attached and represent Levee 1, 3, and 4 that are to be removed and fill placed back on Panther Swamp NWR. Levees are to be cut and adjoining impoundments to the north of south of each respective levee to receive fill. Finished grade to be set at 0.1 slope, toward the pre-existing drainage structures/pipes, and per the provided drawings.

Levees are located approximately 6.0 miles from Yazoo City, MS and slightly outside of Carter, MS. Levee locations are only accessible by taking Carter Road to Bell Prairie Road, then entering the Refuge. Wells are located in Humphreys County and Yazoo County, MS. Map is provided.

Refuge to provide downloaded information to enter into GPS mounted units if needed or set-up and establish points for laser land-leveling equipment.

Levee 1 is located at 33⁰ 01’ 19.62” N and -90⁰ 25’ 05.52” W.

Levee 3 is located at 33⁰ 01’ 10.57” N and -90⁰ 24’ 49.92” W.

Levee 4 is located at 33⁰ 01’ 01.21” N and -90⁰ 24’ 46.11” W.

Contractor/vendor to remove earthen material with heavy equipment such as tractors and dirt pans, place cut material/fill adjacent to ensure 0.1 slope per this contract and provided drawings.

This type of work is routine for experienced and qualified contractors/vendors; therefore, no engineering assistance will be necessary.

All work shall include all labor, materials, equipment, and fuel necessary for removing levees and properly land-leveling this area.
