Performance Work Statement (PWS) SCOT Development Training
30 SCS Vandenberg SFB, California
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The 30th Space Communications Squadron (SCS)/Space Communications Operations Transmission (SCOT) is requesting to have onsite training be delivered to technicians on Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB), California. This training will accommodate individuals from both the CABLE shop and the OUTSIDE PLANT shop. With this training students will be granted certificates and get introduced to new and upcoming cable tools and test equipment. Up to 10 students will be attending each course. Up to 40 seats total for the four (4) courses described below.
1.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The scope of this training will be to get quality hands on training to keep up with the new and existing communication technologies. Using professional instructors that have been in the field for years with real world experiences in installing, troubleshooting, and supporting outside plant, central office, fiber optics and IT/Networking. The training will include all Instructor expenses (travel, lodging, meals, shipping of any of our lab equipment and student coursebooks and materials).
1.3 Hands-On Copper Cable Splicing Certification.
Students will learn how to splice cables in new construction, as well as dealing with cut-overs in existing cable plant. This is a lab intensive course and will develop the Hands-On practical skills in splicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting that are required for an outside plant cable environment.
1.4 Hands-On Advanced OSP Tester, Fault Locating & Cable Troubles.
This course will teach technicians how to operate and fully understand the menus on their testing and fault locating equipment. Students will learn loop parameters needed to provide the many services customers are demanding in today’s communications world. There will be in-depth instruction on maintaining the outside plant and how to successfully locate problem areas. This will include resistive and capacitive faults, power influence, and other problems associated with analog and digital transmission.
1.5 Fiber Optic ISP / OSP Combo-Tech Certification.
This course has been customized to provide technicians with a practical understanding of fiber optic theory and fiber applications in (ISP)Local Area Network, Security and Closed-Circuit TV systems and more in-depth Hands-On focus on a wider array of (OSP) Fiber Optic systems and components, installation, splicing, testing and maintenance techniques. This training will make sure the Fiber Optic Installer is proficient at the installation of connectors on various types of fiber of optic cables using various types of epoxies and can perform mechanical and fusion splicing and more.
1.6 Hands-On CAT-6A (5-6-7) Premise Cabling Installer Certification.
This Hands-on Certification Course to become a CAT -6A (5 6 7) Certified Technician will be designed to get attendees up to speed quickly on industry standards, provide proper installation knowledge and get Hands-On training that covers the latest standards.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: The Period of Performance starts upon Authority to Proceed (ATP); The training will last 10 days (two weeks scheduled back-to-back).
