Waveforms Accurately Transmitted Energized Radars (WATER)
1.0 Background
The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to provide applied research, development, operations, maintenance and systems engineering expertise in support of Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) research efforts utilizing NRL antennas located in Hawaii.
The NRL Code 8140 owns a 30-meter antenna and 11-meter antenna along with the associated hardware/software located at Paumalu (PAM) in Oahu, HI. These antennas are known as the PAM2 (30m) antenna and PAM3 (11m) respectively.
The Naval Research Laboratory -owned PAM2 and PAM3 antennas reside on Intelsat General Corporation’s (IGC) property and NRL access to the PAM II Teleport property is granted by IGC.
NRL also owns and conducts experiments utilizing two (2) 20-meter antennas, one 16-meter antenna and one 7-meter antenna located at the NRL Opana facility; three (3) 13m antennas at Lualualei; two (2) 13m antennas and one (1) 6.3m antenna at Wahiawa; and one (1) 5.4m antenna at Kaena Point.
Additionally, NRL plans to install additional antennas in Hawaii for expanded research efforts in the future.
2.0 Scope
This contract supports the continued research of RF atmospheric exploration in support of Department of Defense (DoD) space and airborne assets. The contractor shall provide scientific, technical and engineering research and maintenance support for NRL research utilizing NRL-owned antennas on the United States island of Oahu, Hawaii to include the Paumalu and Opana facilities, and antennas at Lualualei, Wahiawa and Kaena Point, as well as other future government-owned antenna systems. The requirements defined in this SOW are anticipated to be performed primarily at the PAM contractor-owned facility as well as the Opana government-owned facility and Wahiawa antennas, with ancillary support for other NRL antennas on Oahu as research dictates.
