About this file
This document is a detailed Coring Plan for the New Youngs Bridge (BR 08306) located on US101 (Highway 009) at Milepost 4.91, prepared for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). The plan specifies the technical requirements for extracting core samples from the bridge deck, including precise instructions for core sampling: 16 total cores shall be taken, with 4-inch minimum diameter cores at least 4.5 inches long, positioned at specific locations across the bridge's spans. Core extraction guidelines include taking samples in wheel ruts, near drains, and attempting to match previous core locations, with a maximum core depth of 5 inches.
The bridge, constructed in 1964, has a deck length of 4,208 feet, width of 35 feet, and depth ranging from 6 to 7 inches, with no previous overlays. The coring plan provides geographic coordinates (46.176180, -123.868472) and a detailed schematic showing 16 core locations distributed across various spans, with distances between cores noted as approximate. The document includes specific instructions for core labeling, positioning, and extraction, suggesting this is part of a comprehensive bridge condition assessment or maintenance planning process for this specific infrastructure asset.
