1. Introduction
a. This technical requirements document is for a SWIR laser system to be used at the Guided Weapon Evaluation Facility (GWEF), 782 Test Squadron/RNWG, Eglin AFB, FL. This SWIR laser system will be used to develop a new GWEF test system. This SWIR laser source and support equipment must meet specific physical and performance requirements to be suitable to meet the project task requirements.
b. Quantity: The GWEF requires one complete laser system with a controller, control software, optional thermoelectric chillers, cooling box, water cooling plate, and forced air (fan) cooling plate.
c. The terms “Threshold” and “Objective” may be used throughout this specification. A threshold is the minimum acceptable requirement. An objective is a desired capability.
d. Contractor proposals should identify any specifications that are not technically feasible or have an undue impact on cost. Should this occur, proposals should provide recommended alternatives to the identified specification as well as impacts on overall system performance and cost.
2. Laser System Physical Requirements
a. The laser head volume shall be no larger than 8” x 8” x 1.5”.
b. The laser head weight (excluding cooling block, controllers and cables) shall be no greater than 4.5 lbs.
c. The cooling block shall be no greater than 3 lbs.
d. The laser system shall be mountable using standard ¼”-20 tapped mounting holes.
e. The laser head shall be capable of surviving radial and tangential shocks of:
THRESHOLD: No requirement; OBJECTIVE: 3g. Where surviving such shocks shall include:
i) Remaining operational after the shock,
ii) Maintain unchanged beam power, shape, and divergence following the shock,
iii) OBJECTIVE: Preserve the same beam pointing before and after the shock.
3. Power Requirements
a. Laser and Thermoelectric shall have a Universal Power Input (100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz).
4. Warranty
a. The Laser shall have a 12-month or 2000 operating hours standard customer warranty.
5. Expected Need Date
a. This procurement’s expected award date is on or before July 3, 2023 with a date required in place of October 9, 2023 (14 weeks after award). Upon need date, the systems must have been delivered to the GWEF.
6. SWIR Laser Performance Requirements
a. The SWIR laser performance requirements are given in Table 1 below.
