General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The Regional Data, Information, and Geospatial (DIG) Directorate of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Northern Region (R1) is seeking a contractor to facilitate and provide training during a 2.5‐day virtual All Staff Workshop (Base Item 1), with options to provide one to three short virtual sessions (maximum of 2 hours per session).
The successful contractor is guaranteed to be awarded the Base Item work under this contract. Optional Items may or may not be awarded, depending on funding availability.
Base Item 1 (BI 1): All Staff Workshop. The contractor will work with the government to plan and create an agenda; and identify, develop, and/or provide professional development assessment tools and facilitation techniques for a 2.5‐day all staff workshop hosted virtually, October 21‐24. The workshop will be focused on team building and group‐based decision‐making for twenty staff members that comprise the entire Directorate. The workshop’s goals are to strengthen personal and professional connections with each other, continue to build a foundation of trust, celebrate the year’s successes, and discuss opportunities for workflow and process improvement. The contractor will facilitate and provide training during the workshop. The contractor will lead the October All Staff Workshop sessions using a variety of activities and tools to help the team fulfill the above goals.
Optional Items 2, 3, and 4 (OI 2, OI 3, OI 4): The workshop in Base Item 1 may be followed by one to three virtual sessions (maximum of 2 hours per session) to check progress and/or allow time for additional training provided by the contractor.
2.0 Background
The DIG Directorate is a new staff area that was formed in late 2023. The staff area is comprised of around twenty remote (home‐based) employees. Two thirds of the employees were previously on smaller teams that were moved from other staff areas, while the remaining third are new hires to the region or agency. As part of the realignment, a new level of leadership was established in the form of one Director and five Program Managers.
The workshop and virtual sessions will require a contractor that has the tools and expertise to guide the team through various processes of team building and group‐based decision‐making. The contractor should be prepared to acquire and guide the team through a professional development assessment that evaluates how individual attributes can inform and help contribute to a high‐performing team. Optional virtual sessions may or may not be awarded based on the outcomes of the October workshop and on funding availability.
