About this file
This statement of work and federal contract opportunity notice seek annual preventative maintenance and software license support for Unchained Labs analytical instrumentation. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences Analytical Chemistry Core requires maintenance and license support for a Big Kahuna Customized Automated Workflow and Junior Benchtop Automation Platform to ensure continuous operation of these systems for protein, DNA, and RNA analysis supporting increased project demands. The contract would have a 12-month period of performance from February 2024 to February 2025 and provide one annual preventative maintenance kit, replacement of defective parts, and support for PolyView, Automation Studio, and Library Studio software licenses. Only Unchained Labs is qualified to perform the maintenance due to the proprietary nature of the hardware and software.

STATEMENT OF WORK (SERVICES)
(SOW)
GENERAL INFORMATION
Title of Project:
Unchained Labs Big Kahuna Customized Automated Workflow and Junior Benchtop Automation Platform are in need of a renewal to annual preventative maintenance service agreement with PolyView, Automation Studio and Library Studio License Support
Statement of Need and Purpose:
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Analytical Chemistry Core (ACC) requires a renewal of service agreement and license support for Big Kahuna and Junior Automated Reaction Dosing System used by NCATS chemists and biologists. To ensure that research data remains standardized across the NCATS Chemistry Section, only Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) service and parts are acceptable to meet the needs of this requirement.
Background Information and Objective:
The ACC utilizes an Unchained Labs Big Kahuna Customized Automated Workflow and Junior Benchtop Automation Platform for the determination of protein, DNA, and RNA concentration within a large number of samples for a wide array of assays and projects. This quantitative analysis is highly important for the proper generation of analytical and high-throughput screening data. There has been an increasing number of project requests for the analysis of intact protein, peptide (digested from protein extraction), and antibody drug conjugation. In order to address these increasing demands, the ACC requires continuous access to a functioning Automated Workflow which is a powerful QC tool that performs high-speed and automation friendly quantification of protein, DNA, and RNA for 96 samples in 5 minutes with minimal hands-on-time for the highest level of productivity. To help ensure the Big Kahuna and Junior have constant operability, we have a need for a service agreement with one annual PM kit and license support from Unchained Labs.
LEA10/AS10 is a transformation of the Unchained Labs LEA9 controller software into a Python-based instance. We recently upgraded the Junior to LEA10 which dramatically opened up programmatic control and integration of the system because of the Python API hooks that are exposed. Python-based control software allows us to monitor in-process protocols more closely with more detailed logging information available to the integrator or end-user. These capabilities significantly reduce development time and costs as we integrate the Junior into various automated workflows and eventually into the ASPIRE automated platform.
Period of Performance:
12 months, optimally 2/18/24 to 2/17/25
SCOPE OF WORK
General Requirements:
Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed to perform the Statement of Work below:
Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
Specific Requirements:
Includes one annual preventative maintenance service for Big Kahuna or Junior. Contract covers remote and on-site labor costs and includes replacement of any defective parts (including worn parts) discovered during the contract period for the fully configured system including integrated 3rd party systems purchased through Unchained Labs.
S00015 LEA PolyView Perpetual License Support Subscription Per named user/year after first year of software use for PolyView, Spectra Studio and LEA Analysis Excel Add-in. Also includes any released upgrades.
S00016 LEA Automation Studio Perpetual License Support Subscription Per instrument/year after first year of software use for Automation Studio and includes any released upgrades.
S00014 LEA Library Studio Perpetual License Support Subscription Per named user/year after first year of software use for Library Studio and includes any released upgrades
LEVEL OF EFFORT:
Only an Unchained Labs service engineer will be qualified to perform this Preventative Maintenance, due to the proprietary nature of the hardware and software involved.
