Technical Capability Requirements Document (TCRD)
Remote Control Target System Anti-Jamming Technology
30 March 2021
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF NEED
The targets flight is looking for a product that will interface with the current target GPS instrumentation that will allow our targets to receive GPS data, while operating in a GPS denied test environment.
Key Performance Parameters (KPPs)
The product must enable; 1) remote target operation in test environments using one or more GPS jamming devices, 2) ability of target assets to receive L1 (1575.42 MHz) and/or L2 (1227.6 MHz) frequencies for GPS operations.
Table 1 Key Performance Parameters
Key Performance Parameters (KPP) Threshold Objective Current Capability
Remote Target Operability
Able to defeat one jammer
Able to defeat multiple jammers
Not able to operate against any jammers
Interference Rejection
Protection against L1 or L2 jamming
Simultaneous L1 and L2 protection
Not able to operate against any jammers
Key Attributes
The product must be able to connect to current target GPS antenna input.
Table 2 Key attributes
Attributes Threshold Objective Suitability Land applications Land and Marine applications Interference Rejection 25 dB 40 dB or more Gain 20 dB 30 dB Connections Power (MIL-C-26482) , RF RF
The anti-jamming equipment will be installed on target assets that operate on either land or water ranges. The land ranges are typically compacted clay and sand/dirt mixture. The equipment should be suitable for use in sandy and dusty environments. The maritime targets operate at high speeds in the water ranges and the equipment should be suitable for use in marine applications where the equipment will be exposed to splashing. In both land and water applications, the equipment should be suitable against shock and vibration.
The interference rejection shall be at least 25 dB, 40 dB or more is preferential. The low noise amplifier gain should be at least 20 dB.
For connection to the remote control and tracking system, the anti-jamming equipment shall interface with the existing antenna with little or no modifications. The product can be used to replace the current GPS antenna. Power is typically available on the targets and anti-jamming equipment can make use of available power. Some modifications may be necessary to access the target’s power source.
