About this file
This document is an attachment detailing salient characteristics for surgical lights, specifically for a Department of Defense procurement. The surgical light system requires two setups with one single light head boom and one dual light head boom, featuring adjustable illumination intensity (ranging from 45-160 klx at different distances), adaptable light field diameter, and advanced positioning capabilities. Key technical specifications include 360-degree vertical rotation, +/- 45 degrees tilt range, shadow reduction, counterbalanced arm system, and an intuitive control panel with backlit display.
The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) by the Air Force Materiel Command for Steris HarmonyAIR A-Series Surgical Lights (Solicitation Number: FA2823-25-Q-6002). The procurement targets small businesses, including 8(a), HUBZone, EDWOSB, WOSB, and SDVOSB categories, with a small business size standard of 800 employees. Vendors must provide capabilities statements demonstrating experience servicing Steris surgical lights, compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements, and proper licensing. Responses are due by 4:00 PM CST on 21 July 2025, with submission to Wilma Snider via email.

· Illumination Intensity:
· Must provide adjustable light intensity within a range of:
· (6.3”) 160 klx
· (10”) 80 klx-144 klx
· (11.8”) 45 klx-90 klx
· The intensity range must be adjustable in smooth, incremental steps, not just discrete jumps. The adjustment mechanism must be easily accessible and intuitive for surgical staff.
· Light Field Diameter:
· The light field diameter must be adjustable to accommodate different surgical field sizes.
· Adjustable diameter range with a clearly defined and easily manipulated adjustment mechanism.
· Shadow Reduction:
· The light must minimize shadows cast by surgical personnel or instruments.
· Light Head Positioning:
· The light head must be easily and precisely positioned to direct light onto the surgical field.
· 360-degree rotation of the light head around the vertical axis.
· Tilt range of at least +/- 45 degrees.
· Smooth and stable movement, with locking mechanisms to maintain the desired position.
· Arm system must be counterbalanced for easy adjustment and minimal drift.
· Control Panel:
· Requirement: Intuitive and easy-to-use control panel for adjusting light intensity.
