About this file
The document is a Material and Performance Specifications document for Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC), dated September 11, 2024, which provides detailed specifications for materials and products across multiple construction and renovation divisions. The document comprehensively lists preferred manufacturers, model numbers, and specific requirements for materials ranging from general requirements and wood products to electrical systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures, and exterior improvements. The specifications cover 32 divisions, providing explicit guidance on acceptable manufacturers, model numbers, and comments for each product category, which will be used to ensure consistency and quality in GRCC's construction and renovation projects.
The specifications demonstrate GRCC's detailed approach to procurement, with a strong emphasis on specific manufacturers and models across various product categories. Notable requirements include preferences for energy-efficient equipment, specific brands like Trane for HVAC systems, Sloan for plumbing fixtures, and Square D for electrical components. The document also includes specific technical requirements such as no grooved piping for domestic water, preferences for single-source products in certain categories, and detailed guidelines on everything from elevator components to irrigation systems. These specifications appear designed to standardize procurement, ensure quality, maintain consistency across campus facilities, and potentially streamline maintenance and replacement processes.
