Appendix A – Scope of Work
Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) Scope of Work (Design/Build)
General Notes:
a. All poles for supporting Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) will be concrete. The size of the new concrete poles will match the existing wood pole size. The height of the new concrete pole shall match the height of the existing wood pole that is to be demolished/replaced. Each pole shall be identified by number. The number can be painted/stenciled on the pole. The poles shall be rated at a wind speed of at least 165 miles per hour.
b. Pedestals for mounting the manual activation switches shall be concrete, and the elevation of the switch shall be mounted 48” above grade. Each pedestal shall be identified by number. The number can be painted/stenciled on the pedestal. The manual activation switch shall be suitable for exterior use in a corrosive environment.
c. To the extinct possible, route all exterior wiring in conduit 24” below grade. The conduit size shall be based on the latest version of the NEC per the number of conductors in the conduit. Provide warning tape 18” below grade with metal foil backing. Where the wiring transitions from below grade to above grade, provide at least 18” of rigid steel conduit with corrosion protection. The remainder of the wiring protection can be PVC.
d. Any asphalt or concrete that has to be cut to accommodate this scope work shall be replaced.
The asphalt or concrete to be cut shall be done with a saw.
e. Any areas that have been disturbed shall be graded back to the original form and sodded.
f. All junction boxes, fuse boxes, and any other derives mounted on the exterior shall be corrosion resistance.
g. The contractor shall provide temporary restroom facilities with a sanitization station in the Construction Area.
h. The existing system is a Whelan serial/model number 14160/ IPS 400-01-1483766-04.

i. Most of the power feeding the existing horns is from a 60 amp fusible disconnect, fused at 50 amps mounted on existing wood poles. This is for information purposes only. The contractor shall coordinate the new power requirement for all new horns, switches, and headend equipment with the manufacture.
j. The Klaxon headend equipment was working before Hurricane Michael. If any of the existing headend equipment is operational and compatible with the new speakers and manual activation stations, the contractor will be allowed to reuse the existing headend equipment in this scope of work.
k. All exterior Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) equipment, exterior wiring, exterior devices, exterior horns, etc., shall be new and corrosion resistant.

Specific Work Items
1. Replace the control switch in Building B7052.
2. Replace the pole and associated klaxon equipment near the control gate.
3. Replace the pole and associated klaxon equipment near the igloos. See Klaxon Figure 1 for a view of the existing pole.
4. Replace the exterior klaxon switch between Igloos B7008 and B7010. See Klaxon Figure 4 for a view of the existing switch.
5. Replace the exterior klaxon switch between Igloos B7009 and B7003 See Klaxon Figure 3 for a view of the existing switch.
6. Replace the exterior klaxon switch between Igloos B7005 and B7011 See Klaxon Figure 2 for a view of the existing switch.
7. Add an interior Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) switch in all non-igloo facilities.
Properly label/identify the control switches. If the facility is not being occupied this requirement for that facility is waived. See the attached site plan for a layout of the existing MSA Facilities in this scope of work.
8. Add a horn/Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) pole assembly and exterior control switch near the Mac pad area south of B7020. Location to be coordinated to minimize cutting repaved surfaces.
9. Megger all Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) control and power wiring after installation, and replace any wiring which shows the possibility of being damaged.
10. Properly mark all Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) control switches and poles according to applicable AFIs/UFCs.
11. The specific Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) wiring scheme to be used on site shall be coordinated with the manufacturer and designed by the contractor.
12. Klaxon headend equipment was working before Hurricane Michael. Test all equipment and replace any damaged headend equipment needed to bring the Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.) to a fully operational state.
13. Provide as built drawings in a digital format.
14. Provide a test plan that is approved by the Emergency Horn System (e.g. Klaxon, etc.)
manufacturer or a certified vendor.
15. Provide an operational test verifying the system is complete and operational.
