USAID.GOV/LEBANON MAY 2020
Meritorious and economically challenged students in Lebanon have limited options to join top notch American universities in Lebanon that offer an international curriculum coupled with critical thinking, hence limiting their potential market employability.
OVERVIEW
USAID’s $147.5 million University Scholarship Program (USP), since 2010, offers full scholarship support covering tuition fees, housing expenses, medical insurance, textbooks, and a monthly stipend to students from all over the country. These scholarships enhance students’ job opportunities and sharpen their interpersonal and leadership skills through mandatory participation in community service projects. The program funds undergraduate degrees in fields of studies such as business, education, nursing, engineering, medical laboratory, biology, mathematics, English, and Information and Communications Technology.
ACHIEVEMENTS
● More than 1,450 scholarships to school graduates enrolled at the American University of Beirut (AUB), the Lebanese American University (LAU) and Haigazian University.
