About this file

This is Amendment 1 to RFB 2025-UWMSN-00906-RFB issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for an evaporator for thin film synthesis. The amendment clarifies several technical specifications through a Q&A format, notably removing Item 12 from the Technical Specifications which had required an optional sputter source. The amendment confirms that the system should include ports for 4 evaporation sources but only requires actual power supplies and evaporation sources for 2 evaporators, allowing for future expansion. It also confirms that the system should enable co-deposition capabilities.

The amendment clarifies that performance testing and verification will be based on the specifications listed in Section 6 (Technical Specifications) of the original Terms and Requirements document. Questions regarding the solicitation must be directed to Thomas English via email, and responses must be submitted through the UWisconsin online bidding portal at bids.sciquest.com.

Amendment 1 for 2025-UWMSN-00906-RFB:

Q1. Multiple types of evaporation sources are referred to as sputtering source. Can you please specify exactly what type of sputtering source is desired to be included as an option?

A1. Item 12 from the table of Technical Specifications (Section 6 of Terms and Requirements) has been removed. An optional sputter source is no longer required for this bid.

Q2. The Technical Specification asks for ports for at least 4 evaporation sources and power suppliers for 2 sources. Should the actual evaporation sources be included in the proposal, or only the ports and power suppliers are required?

A2. The actual power supplies and evaporation source are only required for 2 evaporators. The instrument should have enough ports for 4 evaporation sources, should we choose to expand later.

Q3. Thermal sources and power supplies: Are you requesting 4 total thermal sources with 2 power supplies -allowing you to be able to co-deposit?

A3. Yes.

Q4. Performance criteria: 4.2 Acceptance and Testing (Post-Award) mentions 'verification of the specifications and performance requirements'. Can you please provide details on what the specifications and performance requirements are?

A4. All required specifications are noted in the table in page 10, section 6 (Technical Specifications) of document 1-Time+Purchase+Terms+and+Requirements+for+2025-UWMSN-00906-RFB.docx. These are the specifications and performance requirements that will be tested.
