About this file

This document is Amendment VI to a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the disposal of 120 decommissioned Orange Line Rail Cars over a 12-month period. Due to safety concerns, the MBTA has decided that bidder surveying and sampling of the rail cars will not be permitted on MBTA property. Bidders are advised to plan accordingly when preparing their bid submissions, and may include any assumptions or exceptions with their proposals, which will be considered at the MBTA's sole discretion.

The RFP requires qualified contractors to load, transport, and dispose of the rail cars. Bidders are advised that they can view similar in-service cars across the Orange Line. All other terms and conditions of the RFP remain unchanged. The MBTA has revised its previous responses to bidder questions related to this topic within the Q&A to reflect this amendment.
