About this file
This is Amendment 3 to an advertised contract issued by the Paulding County Department of Transportation (PCDOT) for the Due West Road at SR92 Intersection Realignment Project (Project Number PR-CR(466), Bid #26029-1519). The amendment addresses four clarifications requested by bidders and provides PCDOT responses to those questions. The original letting date for this project is May 1, 2026. Key clarifications include guidance on pavement marking removal methods, utility coordination responsibilities, potential priming work on the Due West Connector, and night work restrictions. PCDOT has approved water blasting as an alternative to sand blasting for existing pavement marking removal, provided no significant pavement damage occurs, while noting that grinding is not preferred due to residual striping concerns.
The Prime Contractor will not be responsible for direct utility location or relocation work but will handle locates, coordination, prep work for relocations, and signal work as specified in the plans. Priming of the Due West Connector is not required but may be discussed during construction if needed. Night work for general construction activities is not permitted; however, night work for paving operations or traffic control activities may be considered by PCDOT with advance approval. These clarifications must be acknowledged by bidders on the Amendment Certification Page.

AMENDMENT TO ADVERTISED CONTRACT
PROJECT NAME: Due West Road at SR92 Intersection Realignment Project
PROJECT NUMBER: PR-CR(466)
BID # 26029-1519
COUNTY: PAULDING
AMENDMENT NUMBER: 3
LETTING DATE: May 1, 2026
THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS ARE HEREBY MADE TO THIS CONTRACT.
THE BIDDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING ANY NECESSARY CHANGES IN
INK IN THE PROPOSAL. BIDDER SHALL ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AMENDMENT
BY CHECKING THE APPROPRIATE SPACE ON THE AMENDMENT
CERTIFICATION PAGE.
ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS AMENDMENT:
Questions received by bidders. Responses shown in RED.
1. One other question with regards to Q&A #14. Can water blasting be used instead of sand blasting for existing pavement marking removal? There are no companies in Georgia who perform the sand blasting removal method.
PCDOT will be open to water blasting as long as no significant damage is done to the pavement. Grinding is not a preferred method due to leaving residual striping behind.
2. Just to confirm, there will be no utility relocations included in the Prime
Contractor’s contract and only coordination with utility owners will be required?
The Prime contract will not have to do any direct utility location as part of the contract. Contractor will be responsible for locates, coordination, prep work to allow for relocations, and also the signal work as stated in the plans.
3. One other question:
Will the Contractor be required to prime Due West Connector?
Not required but may be discussed if the need arises during construction.
4. I have a question regarding the Due West Realignment Bid:
Will night work be allowed for this project?
Overall, night work will not be allowed for general work. Night work for paving or operations needed due to traffic control will be considered by PCDOT and must be approved ahead of time.
