About this file

This document is an amendment to an RFP (Request for Proposal) issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the PMC-Concrete Pavement Joint Repairs I-96 project. The amendment clarifies that the pay item for "Pourable Pavement Repair" is set up by the gallon, as the required material is a cold-applied liquid, rather than traditional mastic which is typically paid for by the foot. The amendment also indicates that the Maintenance of Traffic Provisions attached were included in error and have been removed, with the contractor to follow MDOT's Standard Specification for Construction 2012.

The related state and local contract opportunity is for the PMC-Concrete Pavement Joint Repairs I-69 project, which covers the jurisdiction of Jackson County, Michigan. Pricing for this project is expected to be in line with industry standards, and the funding source and amount are not specified in the document provided.

Michigan Department of Transportation

RFP 190000003141

PMC-Concrete Pavement Joint Repairs I-96 Amendment 1

Question: Why is the pay item set up as Pourable Pavement Repair by the gallon? If this is mastic material, it is typically paid for by the foot. Is there a way that the pricing sheet can be updated to reflect industry standards for payment.

Response: The vender is correct in that traditionally we pay for mastic by the foot. However, the material that we are looking to secure is not mastic. Mastic will not meet the requirements of being a cold applied liquid. That is why the Pourable Pavement Repair pay item is paid for by the gallons.

Question: It appears the Maintenance of Traffic Requirements attached to the RFP is from another solicitation.

Response: The vendor is correct. The Maintenance of Traffic Provisions that were attached to Amendment 1 were attached in error by the buyer. They have been removed as a result. Maintenance of Traffic should be consistent with MDOT’s Standard Specification for Construction 2012, which can be found at https://www.michigan.gov/mdot/0,4616,7-151-9622---,00.html
