About this file

This is an Amendment #1 document for a Request for Bid issued by the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the procurement of a Goulds Vertical Industrial Turbine Pump under solicitation number 2024-UWMSN-00408-RFB. The amendment provides clarifications and answers to four substantive bidder inquiries regarding equipment specifications and delivery logistics. The pump is specified as a complete assembly with motor, featuring a total pumping level (TPL) of 192 inches, 460-volt motor power supply, VSS configuration, and TEFC enclosure type. Standard industrial quality motors are acceptable for this procurement, and the University will evaluate equivalent manufacturer offerings based on detailed specifications submitted by bidders. The equipment will serve as a spare component and will be installed when existing pumps require removal for service or repair.

Regarding delivery and installation, the University indicated that personnel will be available to unload the equipment from delivery vehicles and install the motor on-site without requiring vendor technical guidance or start-up assistance. Bidders should note that motors typically ship separately from pump components, and delivery should include placement at the rear of the truck bed. Bidders wishing to submit alternate manufacturers' equipment must clearly identify the proposed substitution by manufacturer, catalog, model, and stock number, with detailed specifications included to establish equivalency. The University of Wisconsin-Madison maintains sole authority to determine the acceptability of equivalent items proposed by bidders. Questions regarding this solicitation should be directed to Brad Bauman at brad.bauman@wisc.edu, and all bid responses must be submitted online through the ShopUW+ platform at https://bids.sciquest.com/apps/Router/PublicEvent?CustomerOrg=UWisconsin.

AMENDMENT #1 for 2024-UWMSN-00408-RFB Goulds Vertical Industrial Turbine Pump Questions and Answers Q1: Is a special motor required or can a standard industrial quality motor be used?

A1: A standard motor should suffice.

Q2: Can you please confirm that equal pump manufacturers will be accepted for this project?

A2: See section 5.1:

Bidder may offer an alternate manufacturers item believed to be an equal to the item listed. Any alternate item bid must be clearly identified by manufacturer and catalog, model or stock number. Detailed specifications of the alternate item offered must be included with your bid to establish equivalency and to ensure that the item being bid meets all specifications. The University will be the sole judge of equivalent acceptability between Bidders’ responses.

Q3: Is this just a bowl assembly or complete pump assy. w/motor? If complete pump assy., what is the TPL required and are the materials of construction just standard? Motor voltage, VHS or VSS, and enclosure type? Thanks.

A3: it is a complete pump assembly with motor, TPL=192”, motor voltage=460, VSS, enclosure type=TEFC, see attached drawings.

Q4: Will the recipient be able to lift a 3 ton package off the delivering truck? The motors on these types of pumps ship separate from the pump. Do you have personnel that can install the motor in place if we are there for technical guidance. Would you require more than 1 or 2 days of start-up assistance?

A4: The delivery person will need to get it to the back end of truck, and we will be able to unload. We have Personnel that can install motor and we don’t need technical guidance or start-up assistance. This piece of equipment is a spare and will be installed when one of the other pumps need to be removed for service/repair.
