About this file
This is a Bid Phase Request for Information (RFI) Responses document for Albertus Magnus College's Ralph Walker Rink Women's Locker Room project in Connecticut, prepared by Centerbrook Architects as of September 10, 2026. The document addresses seven RFIs submitted during the bidding process for a 2,530 square-foot women's locker room addition. Key project requirements include helical pile installation with minimum depth requirements specified on Sheet S0.01, exterior windows and storefronts requiring 45-minute fire ratings, and a building fire alarm vendor identified as Esposito Security. The project specifications mandate Benjamin Moore paint products for interior applications, with specific wet areas in rooms WC 107, WC 108, and showers in room 106 requiring SW Saniglaze high build wall systems. Low voltage scope for security and data includes all work except equipment installation. Helical pile load testing must be conducted and signed by the Helical Pile Contractor's registered engineer in accordance with Specification Section 31 6600 Part 3.3. A Geotechnical Soil Report from a previous project on the same site is available in Bid Addendum No. 1, along with revised plan sheets addressing fire rating requirements for steel columns and beams.
The project specifications reference multiple technical standards and building code requirements, including ASTM 3689-07 for micropile static load testing and compliance with seismic design requirements for Connecticut. HVAC controls specifications vary by building component, with the Community Building using LG systems and the Locker Room Building using Ecobee. Acceptable manufacturers for fire-rated aluminum framed entrances and storefronts are identified in specification section 084123, with Kawneer confirmed as acceptable following the unavailability of Leed Hammel. Exterior paint applications include specified substrates such as galvanized metal door frames, PVC fascia and downspouts, Portland cement plaster stucco, exposed foundation walls, and miscellaneous metals. Steel and beam intumescent coating requirements are detailed in the column schedule and graphical legend on Sheet S4.01 and specification section 078123. No contract value, award date, contract term, or funding source information is provided in this RFI response document.

Bid Phase Request for Information Responses
RFI#1:
1. Is there an available Geotechnical Soil Report for this project?
2. What is the final base bid depth for helical piles?
Response:
1. A Geotechnical Soil Report was not specifically prepared for this project, but there is one for a previous project built on the same site. See Appendices C, D, E, F issued as part of Bid Addendum No.1.
2. Please refer to the Helical Pile notes on Sheet S0.01 for minimum depth requirements beyond the organic fills. Also, refer to project specifications for additional delegated engineering requirements.
RFI#2:
Who is the preferred controls vendor for this property?
Response:
The Community Building uses LG for building-wide HVAC controls, while the Locker Room Building uses Ecobee.
RFI#3
Leed Hammel is no longer available, confirming Kawneer is acceptable.
See specification section 084123 ‘FIRE RATED ALUMINUM FRAMED ENTRANCES AND
STOREFRONTS’ section 2.01 for acceptable manufacturers.
RFI#4
Confirm fire rating for aluminum assemblies is required.
Yes, exterior windows and storefront require a 45-minute fire rating.
RFI#5
1. Who is the building fire alarm vendor?
2. What is the low voltage scope for security & data? Conduit and string only? Just wiring?
Equipment?
1. Esposito Security, ph (203) 804-1224
2. The low voltage scope includes everything except for the equipment.
RFI#6
1. The exterior paint spec calls out to field paint the following, Galvanized metal substrates, plastic trim fabrication, stucco, concrete and steel and Iron. Can you identify these, if any.
2. The exterior canopy shows steel columns and beams on A 102. In the last set of plans, they called out to receive a 1-hour intumescent coating. Now with the revised plans they do not. Are they still to get a I hour intumescent coatings
3. The interior paint spec says we can only use Benjamin Moore products, can we use Sherwin
Williams or Pittsburgh paint products
4. Can you define where are the (wet areas) are. Because in the paint spec 099123, paragraph 3.04-
D-2a, it states to use SW Saniglaze high build wall system. (very expensive for labor and materials)
1. Galvanized metal – HM door frames Plastic trim – PVC fascia, See detail H1/A1.02 and sheet A3.01, PVC downspout and flange, See detail H7/A1.03 Stucco – Building exterior finish is “Portland Cement Plaster” Stucco, See sheet A3.01
Concrete – Exposed foundation wall, See F3/A5.01 and sheet A3.01 Steel and Iron – Any non-galvanized exposed miscellaneous metals, if any
2. See column schedule and graphical legend on sheet S4.01 and specification section 078123 for extent of intumescent coatings and products.
3. Benjamin Moore products to be used as specified.
4. Walls of WC 107 & WC 108, and painted GWB walls in SHOWERS 106, See revised sheet A9.01 issued as part of Bid Addendum No.1.
RFI#7
Plans state helical pile load test must be signed by a registered engineer. Does the contractor have to provide the engineer?
Load test results submitted in accordance with Specification Section 31 6600 Part 3.3 shall be signed by the Helical Pile Contractor's registered engineer.
