Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

---------------------------------- START BATCH 5 ----------------------------------

Question 76: As a submitting Prime Applicant, we have an approved indirect rates with a Government Agency, however, there is a reference to “fringe benefit rate”. Is this different than the indirect rates?

Answer 76: Yes, typically, a fringe benefit rate is different from what is referred to as an indirect rate.

Each entity should follow its own internal rate structure when preparing their budget.

Question 77: If a State Agency (that that would typically hold authority over activities such as those included within the ALRD), chooses not to apply as designated representative of the State, can another State Agency apply as a Prime Applicant? If so, is that State Agency required to do ALL of the objectives, or may it be selective?

Answer 77: As described in the ALRD, Prime Applicants must receive appointment (through Head of Government Letter) as the sole entity within the State to apply for, receive, and administer the award. A Prime Applicant representing the State must address ALL objectives outlined in the ALRD.
