About this file

The Allowable Lane Closure Map is a supporting document for the Iowa Department of Transportation District 6 Rock to Road – Shoulder Aggregate Class A Stone procurement. This Request for Bids solicits competitive offers for the delivery and placement of Class A stone aggregate across five maintenance garage areas servicing multiple highway locations: Urbana (3,025 tons on Highway 150), Tipton (3,500 tons on Highway 130), Coralville (1,400 tons on Highway 218 and 2,000 tons on Highway 1N), Independence (2,900 tons on Highway 187), and Dyersville (1,019 tons on Highway 20 WB and 382 tons on Highway 20 EB), totaling approximately 12,226 tons. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. CST, with bid submissions required by February 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. CST. The contract period runs from execution through December 31, 2026, with no renewal options. All parties must contact the Highway Maintenance Supervisor to verify construction restrictions and allowable lane closure locations, which is documented in the accompanying lane closure map for District 6.

Bidders must submit comprehensive per-ton pricing inclusive of rock, delivery, and shoulder placement services, with mandatory bidding on all lines within a specific group. Material delivery is restricted to normal working days between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with required 24-hour advance notification and completion within ten working days of order placement. Bidders at Coralville locations must provide a traffic control certificate for night work, obtainable directly or through a subcontractor. Evaluation will consider cost, past work performance, work capacity, and ability to meet mandatory requirements and schedules. The Iowa DOT reserves the right to select delivery points and tonnage awarded to any single bidder and may purchase from alternative sources if the awarded vendor cannot provide product within 20 days. Payment terms are net 60 with all pricing submitted in US dollars. No specific set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned in the solicitation.
