About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a fire main piping crop and renew project for the USCGC ALDER (WLB 216) located at Guard Sector San Francisco. The contractor (KTR) must perform comprehensive piping system modifications, including cropping out and renewing necessary lengths of fire protection risers and associated supply piping with diameters ranging from 1/4" to 6", fabricating and installing new piping arrangements, and ensuring proper insulation, labeling, and leak testing. The work is to be completed between 15 April and 15 May at 1 Yerba Buena Island, San Francisco, CA.

Key requirements include providing a Marine Chemist for hot work certification, managing fire watches, maintaining protective measures, preventing contamination, and handling fluid disposal in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The contractor must also provide vehicle and personnel identification details, install new pipe hangers and insulation, perform touch-up preservation, and ensure zero visible leakage during system testing. The project emphasizes meticulous technical execution consistent with Coast Guard Drawing 225-WLB-521-001 and various standard specifications.

o Crop out necessary length of #1 FP riser to OVBD piping (6” ID), to include all necessary FPL supply (4” ID), pressure regulating supply (4” ID), pressure regulating bypass supply(4” ID), and pressure gauge/sensor supply (1/4” ID) piping.

o Fabricate necessary piping arrangement previously cropped IAW CG Drawing.

o Install all fabricated piping to include all required gaskets/seals IAW CG

Drawing.

o KTR must provide a means of sealing any open piping while any portion of the system is open (i.e.: upstream valve blind flange).

• Pipe labeling: The KTR must label affected piping as follows:

o Name of the piping system service.

o Destination, where feasible.

o Direction of flow, indicated by an arrow three inches long pointing away from the lettering.

• Leak Test: After completing all authorized mechanical (i.e. threaded, bolted, etc.)

joint repairs, the Contractor must test the affected piping system's operation using the system fluid at normal operating pressure. Ensure zero visible leakage from or deformation of mechanical parts by repairing all leaks and discrepancies.

• Touch-up preservation: The KTR must prepare and coat all new and disturbed surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, (Touch-ups and minor coating repairs.)

• Piping insulation installation: The KTR must install new insulation materials over the exposed pipe surfaces at thicknesses appropriate to the application and temperature ranges specified in ASTM F683 Tables.

o Associated pipe hangers o Valves o Fittings o Flanges
