About this file
This Special Packaging Instruction (DD Form 2169) provides detailed specifications for packaging and preserving a diesel engine block (NSN 2815-01-542-7909) dated May 9, 2012. The document outlines precise packaging requirements including military preservation methods, cleaning, drying, and packing procedures using MIL-STD specifications. Key packaging steps include applying preservative to bare metal surfaces, wrapping the engine block with specific materials, adding cushioning of defined sizes, and constructing a container made of 1-inch thick nominal lumber with 2-inch thick cleats and deck boards. The packaging is designed to protect the engine block during transportation, with specific instructions for securing the block to mounting boards, applying barrier wraps, and using cushioning materials to prevent damage.
