About this file

This Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) document details precise packaging requirements for a turbocharger (Part Number 655595-3) with National Stock Number 2950-01-432-0369. The document specifies detailed instructions for preparing, preserving, and packaging the turbocharger, including:

Packaging components include multiple segregated packs containing a tube assembly, gasket, bolts/washers, nuts, and a caution tag. The packaging process requires specific materials like MIL-P-17667 wrap, MIL-DTL-117 bags, and preservation techniques following MIL-STD-2073-1D standards. The turbocharger must be secured with a chain, have all openings sealed with caps/plugs, and be wrapped in VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) material. The final packaging involves a specialized wooden container (ASTM-D6880) with beveled skids, measuring 17-1/2 x 17-1/2 x 20-1/2 inches, and marked with specific instructions like "REUSABLE CONTAINER AND BLOCKING, DO NOT DESTROY" and "REMOVE LAG SCREWS TO OPEN CONTAINER".
